How has Orlicaine been used in Pediatric Dentistry?

Our dental team has successfully completed every Pediatric procedure they have attempted using only Orlicaine and no injection. These have included Class 1,2 and Class 5 restorations.

See our recent publication here: Orlicaine for Pediatric Dentistry.

How is Orlicaine different than other topicals and compounded topicals?

Orlicaine is a patented topical that fits within a well established safety profile of approved FDA-drug, unlike many of the topicals currently available to the dental market. Orlicaine is not the same as a topical compounded at your local pharmacy. Orlicaine undergoes rigorous testing prior to its release and Orlicaine will not work on your skin; it is specifically formulated for mucosal tissue.

Who has used Orlicaine?

What is a 503B Pharmacy?

503B is a recent law passed by Congress as part of the Drug Quality Security Act. The goal of the law is to increase patient safety. A 503B outsourcing facility is different than a traditional compound pharmacy because it is: registered with the FDA, inspected by the FDA, manufactures sterile drugs, follows cGMP - current good manufacturing practices, and all products undergo rigorous testing.

As a 503B we can:

  • compound any products on the bulk substance list

  • produce any drugs on the drug shortage list

  • sell for office stock (rather than single, prescriptions)

  • provide needed medications to the medical, dental, and veterinary industries.
